All 120fps compatible PS5 and Xbox Series X games

New generation, so we want improvements not only graphics, but that improve the gameplay as a whole. If you want smoother, more reality-like, fast gaming … then you must like high frame rates! Well, the new generation of the Xbox Series X and Playstation is right there, and in this respect we will compare them.

Digital Foundry made a comparison between the next consoles from Sony and Microsoft, and we will pass on to you just that. Microsoft recently confirmed that Halo Infinite, the main game on the Xbox Series X, will support 120fps gameplay in multiplayer mode. That got us thinking – what other games have been confirmed to support the 120Hz refresh rates of modern 4K TVs?

Before starting the comparison, Digital Foundry explains why 120fps is better than 60fps:

These two side effects make it easy to play fast games, such as snipers or racing games, as you can react more quickly to an enemy’s sudden appearance or see the apex of a corner that approaches quickly more clearly. You can see this demonstrated in our video “Beyond 60fps”, where higher game frame rates and monitor refresh rates make the fast Counter-Strike characters move more smoothly and appear on the screen faster. In short, it looks better.

Which PS5 and Xbox Series X games support 120fps?

At the moment, we know about eight state-of-the-art games with 120fps support on the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X – and the expansion is far from uniform. While the PS5’s design is innovative in many ways, Digital Foundry says it knows of a few that support 120fps. The list of PS5 120fps games currently contains a single game.

For PS5:

For the Xbox Series X:

  • Dirt 5
  • ExoMecha
  • Gears 5
  • Halo Infinite (multiplayer)
  • Metal: Hellsinger
  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps
  • Orphan of the Machine
  • Second Extinction

It should be noted that the list of Xbox Series X may be much larger than this. It so happens that, Microsoft confirmed that the backwards compatibility titles can reach 120fps (if in its respective generation it ran at 60fps, the Xbox Series X doubles the number of frames). Remember that the Microsoft console is more powerful, so it can be to your advantage.
