DC may be considering a movie about Superman villain Lex Luthor to capitalize on the success of DC Comics blockbuster Joker.
Who says it is Mikey Sutton – that the CheatSheet indicates to be a "credible comics industry insider with track record of correct leaks on UCM and DCEU-related news." Sutton wrote on his private Facebook page 'Geekosity: All Things Pop Culture' that Warner Bros. is considering making a movie about Luthor as President of the United States of America.
"No Man of Steel; he is pure fiction in this alternate universe," wrote Sutton about Superman's exclusion from this potential movie.
"For WB, this has the potential to be a modern day Citizen Kane. You see Luthor evolve from an introvert intellectual kid to a rich and corrupt businessman to the President of the United States.
She'll give you an R Rating and leave the comics behind, but maybe give her a twist in mythology, such as making Lois Lane her First Lady, but also the reporter who knocks him down. "
Luthor has already been played by a variety of actors in series and films, including Kevin Spacey in Superman Returns (2006) and Jesse Eisenberg in Batman v Superman (2016) and Justice League (2017).
No wonder Warner Bros. be keen to continue the success of Joker's film, which sets itself apart from previous DCEU films, featuring a character-centric, uninspiring comics-inspired vision, showing a side of a villain that audiences had not yet seen, with a Clear tone for adults.
