A 52-year-old man was charged with an explosion crime after a police search of a home in Liverpool.

Mohammed Ali was arrested after police officers were called in to report a major crash on the night of April 17.

Police said they found a metal tube and black powder in the hallway of a house on Sunlight Street in the Anfield area.

There was no explosion or injuries.

Merseyside police said Ali, from Anfield, was charged with an explosive crime after a search of a property on Hilary Road on Friday.

Ali is due to appear at the Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
