Strictly Come Dancing 2019's live shows returned last night with 12 celebrities and their professional dance partners taking to the dance floor. One of the standout performances came from South African professional dancer Oti Mabuse and her celebrity dance partner, actor Kelvin Fletcher. The former Emmerdale star surprised the judges with his incredible performance at Samba after joining the show just two weeks ago when Jamie Laing had to give up due to an injury. In addition, Kelvin left Judge Shirley Ballas "lost in words" and needing a fan with his sensational Samba. The routine, performed at La Vida Es Un Carnaval by Celia Cruz, was full of energy and some very ambitious moves.
Hip-shaking and dancing while pro Oti was poised between his legs, Kelvin, 35, had spectators in awe of his movements.
Many rushed to Twitter, praising the actor for his incredible performance.
“WOW WOW WOW was amazing! A great partnership … Oti and Kelvin for the final … I can't wait for next week, "wrote one of them adding several flame emojis.
"I think @kelvin_fletcher's first dance on @bbcstrictly should be the best first dance ever, right? #StrictlyComeDancing," said another.
The performance certainly impressed the judges as well, with Kelvin and Oti getting four octaves – a record for any first show.
Judi James, a body language expert, analyzed the dance and she told Express.co.uk that Kelvin has a great chance of going far on the show.
She said, "Kelvin is a guy who clearly knows all about work ethics and the years spent in cold barns in Emmerdale meant he had a chance to get back into the warmth of the ballroom spotlight with both hands."
Following the presentation, the judges praised Kelvin, with Motsi Mabuse saying, “Oh my God! Kelvin! Well, we're not happy you got in, really, you have good assets! Stop, stop, I'm talking about this spine, I'm talking about hip rotation, I'm talking about the flow that is in your body. "
At the time, Oti could be seen proudly smiling, which Judi says could be part of the pro-dancer scheme on the show.
She continued: “Oti looked like a woman who lit the blue touch paper and backed off with Kelvin, who took off like a rocket with her sexy samba.
"She clearly worked hard (and quickly) to take her replacement partner to this level, but her clever trick was then to smile in silence while he received most of the compliments."
Judi added that the dance partners had great chemistry, saying, "At the moment, their relationship seems ideal, with their full focus showing, but their characteristic of turning to her with polite thanks, referencing their silent determination as well."
While Oti and Kelvin glowed last night, their competitors Alex Scott and Neil Jones didn't seem to have the best start.
Judi James explained what Neil could do with the help of his ex-wife Katya, as former soccer player Alex seemed to dominate the performance.
She said, “Of course the dream ticket would be for both of them to get their hands on the glitter ball after last year's distress, but Neil may need to borrow some of his ex-Katya's.” stuck on the floor & # 39; with Alex, as this week his scores were disappointing. "
