The upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earth crossover may have just gotten even more interesting as another iconic Superman actor will return to bring the Man of Steel to life.
Smallville actor Tom Welling is back in the role of Clark Kent, with the crossover exploring the character's fate ten years after the events of the series finale from Smallville. CW confirmed the news, and also published a statement by executive producer Marc Guggenheim.
"For eight years, Arrow walked on Smallville's shoulders. Simply, there would be no Arrow and there would be no Arrowverse without Smallville," said Guggenheim.
"So when we started talking about Crisis on Infinite Earths, our first, second and third priorities were to get Tom back to his iconic role of Clark Kent. To say we're delighted would be to say very little."
Arrow star Stephen Amell also recognized Smallville's influence, tweeting"There would be no crossover without Tom Welling. So Tom Welling is part of the crossover."

Interestingly, Guggenheim's statement explicitly refers to "Clark Kent" rather than "Superman," which may be a sign that Welling Clark has abandoned his lifestyle as a superhero.
