US prepares military to contain protests in Minneapolis as riots break out

After a conversation between Trump and his secretary of defense, the Pentagon gave orders that 800 US Military Police soldiers be prepared to be sent to Minneapolis.

The military comes from military bases in the states of North Carolina and New York.

According to orders received from the Pentagon, the 800 military personnel should be prepared to be dispatched to Minneapolis in just four hours if necessary, reported the AP agency.

The move was taken shortly after President Donald Trump asked his defense secretary, Mark Esper, military options to get around the riots that overtake Minneapolis, Minnesota.

According to the media, Trump called for quick action should the protests get out of hand. In this way, the soldiers of the American Military Police can be quickly called if the Minneapolis police are unable to control the situation.

The authority asked citizens to respect the curfew and "go home immediately" in Publication on twitter.

Protests

Several American cities have been experiencing protests and unrest after the death of a black citizen, George Floyd, on Monday 25.

Floyd was killed during a police approach in Minneapolis when a policeman made him lie on the floor and pressed his knee to the neck.

The victim complained of not being able to breathe during the approach, but this fact was ignored by the police.
