A video showing a mysterious phenomenon was sent to a Chinese social network on July 25, drawing the attention of millions of Internet users.
THE video shows a curious episode that took place in the Chinese city of Shenzhen, in Guangdong province, when residents noticed mysterious luminous green patches appearing among the clouds at night.
The video of the mysterious lights in the sky in Shenzhen was posted by the local meteorological department on the Chinese social network Weibo.
The images, which spread quickly through social networks, provoked the most diverse reactions among internet users, with many of them saying that red, green and yellow lights would be supposed to be UFOs.
However, experts in the meteorological department have identified the atmospheric phenomenon as pillars of light, which generally occur in much colder climates.
“We call this ‘hot night light pillars’. They form under strict conditions (and are) even more specific than ordinary light pillars,” said the meteorological department.
